Please join us for our inaugural forum! We have a wonderful program planned, including discussions with the Mayor's Office of Sustainability, TreePeople, and the Mar Vista Community Council Green Committee. Our focus at this meeting will be sustainable water and landscaping strategies, and related advocacy and community engagement opportunities for Neighborhood Councils.
2:00 - 2:30 pm: Networking and refreshments, plus a resource table and opportunity to share your ideas for NCSA planning
2:30 - 4:30 pm: Program and discussion: Sustainable water and landscaping strategies: What they are, why they matter, and how Neighborhood Councils can take action.
Ted Bardacke, AICP, LEED AP, Deputy Director, Sustainability Office, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti
Grayce Liu, General Manager, Dept. of Neighborhood Empowerment, City of Los Angeles
Lisa Cahill, Director of Sustainable Solutions, TreePeople
Sherri Akers, Green Committee Co-Chair and Director At Large, Mar Vista Community Council
While the formal program doesn't begin until 2:30 pm, we invite you to arrive early to enjoy the beautiful grounds, or come inside for refreshments and networking. LADWP and other organizations will also be on hand to share information about the California-Friendly Landscape Incentive Program and additional resources that you can take back to your Neighborhood Council.
Kids welcome! TreePeople has generously offered to host a separate activity (Eco Tour, etc) for children of our attendees, from 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm. The activity will be suitable for children ages 5 and up. If you are interested, please let us know how many kids you're bringing.
To support a sustainable event, we encourage guests to: bring your own reusable name badge; bring a reusable water bottle(s); and use sustainable forms of transport.
